I recently purchased at COSTCO an American Standard Offset Double Bowl Sink Kit Item/ART 885254 936-1215-584 Model QK033.
On the box it stated “Top or Undermount Installation Options included”, but also stated “Top Mount preferred, and Undermount Inferior. I plan to install this sink on a Granite Counter-top. Is undermount really inferior and why?
It seems that there may have been a misunderstanding.
The item box contains information in both English and Spanish
On the item box, it does indeed state : Top mount/Superior and Under mount/Inferior
Those are actually the translated Spanish terms for top mount (Superior, as in mounted from the top) and under mount (Inferior, as in mounted from beneath)
If you are considering mounting the sink on a granite counter top, we recommend using an under mount, as it will be aesthetically more pleasing.
I hope this answers your question,
