Why do my LED GU10 lamps always burn dimly when connected via a motion sensor?

Hello,
2-wire sensors are only designed for resistive (filament) loads. You cannot really even use them with normal fluorescent tubes, let alone low-powered LED lamps and drivers…
Attempting to use a “proper” LED + Driver won’t make any difference. The problem is that there is a switch mode power supply inside the LED (or any remote driver for one), and there is not enough voltage drop across the circuit to power the sensor properly.
Minimum load 40W, not suitable for non-inductive / resistive loads (which is what you are attempting to use – your LED lamps are basically an “electronic transformer” as far as the sensor is concerned).
Change it to a 3-wire sensor – just needs a neutral conductor brought to the PIR (Passive infra-red) position.

I hope this answers your question, should you have any other questions you can reach us at 1-877-333-0098 or via email at led@conglom.com
